The State filed a complaint pursuant to section 28 — 5 of the Criminal Code of 1961 (Code) (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1991, ch. 38, par. 28 — 5 (now 720 ILCS 5/28 — 5 (West 1992))) for the forfeiture of 94 slot machines owned by the defendant, Peter Vole, Jr., which were found after a police search of his office building.
