The plaintiffs in error, Henry Rardin, Samuel Newlin and Ira Walker, were jointly indicted at the August term, 1910, of the Ford county circuit court for the crime of rape, by force, upon Julia Shadid, a female of about the age of eighteen years. After a motion to quash the indictment had been overruled a plea of not guilty was entered by each of the defendants, and upon a trial before a jury a verdict of guilty was returned against each defendant and the punishment of each defendant was fixed by the jury at imprisonment in the penitentiary for his natural life, and the court, after…
