This is a suit in assumpsit to recover the amount of a promissory note for $180 with interest thereon. The declaration consists of the common counts and one special count which avers that defendant on July 25, 1900, gave his certain promissory note for $180 to the City Bank of Ogden, Iowa, and that plaintiff, at the request of defendant, became surety thereon; that afterwards, on July 25, 1901, the said note having become due, plaintiff paid the 'same.
