Jeffrey Curley, the victim, disappeared from his East Cambridge neighborhood shortly after leaving his grandmother’s house on the afternoon of October 1, 1997. He was ten years old. He was reported missing that evening when he failed to return home to his family and, by the next morning, the Cambridge police had joined in the search for the boy and had begun an investigation into his disappearance.
