CLARK, Circuit Judge.

The United States Lines has sought a writ of habeas corpus to secure the release of Nick Colovis, a seaman in the United States merchant service now under detention for deportation as an alien. Colovis, a citizen of Greece, holds American seaman’s papers issued by the United States Coast Guard, an American Social Security card, and an unexpired Greek passport. As a seaman on the S.
