This mandate proceeding is brought to review an order of the superior court denying a motion for discovery made by petitioner, who is a defendant in a criminal proceeding.
In the underlying action petitioner is charged with the felony offense of battery upon Deputy Sheriff Mark McKague, in violation of Penal Code sections 242 and 243. The alleged offense occurred in the Los Angeles County jail on June 15, 1976.
