Dear Ms. Priest:

I am writing in response to your request for an opinion on several questions concerning nonpartisan judicial elections held pursuant to A.C.A. §§ 7-10-101 et seq. (Supp. 2001). As you note, this legislation was enacted to implement the nonpartisan elections of judicial offices as mandated by Amendment 80 to the Arkansas Constitution, which substantially revised the judicial branch of state government.
