At the January term of the circuit court of Jefferson county, the grand jury of said county in open court presented the following indictment against the defendant:
“The grand jurors for the State of Missouri, within and for the body of the county of Jefferson, now *52here in court duly impaneled, charged and sworn, upon their oath present that Ed Lewis, .
