— The defendant, W. H. Hartman Company, hereinafter referred to as the owner, owned the Waterloo Courier Building in Waterloo, Iowa. It entered into a contract for extensive remodeling of this building with the John G. Miller Construction Company, hereinafter referred to- as the contractor. The contractor subcontracted the plumbing and heating portion of the contract to Sid Smith and Company, hereinafter referred to as the subcontractor.
