Mrs. T. W. Burrus and Mrs. Carrie Lowrey were depositors in the Mediapolis State Bank, a savings bank which was operating under the general banking laws prior to the 4th day of January, 1933, on which day it was adjudged insolvent and placed in charge of L. A. Andrew, Superintendent of Banking of the State of Iowa, as receiver, who later was succeeded by D. W. Bates as receiver. Mrs. Lowrey had on deposit something over $800, and Mrs. Burrus, her daughter had a little over $700. The bank had had some difficulties, it appears, and waivers prior to this time had been signed by the depositors,…
