Since 1910 plaintiff, Charles L. Huisking, has been continuously engaged in business as a drug broker. For a number of years prior to 1917, in addition to the brokerage business, plaintiff from time to time made incidental purchases and sales of drugs, chemicals, and allied articles as a merchant. After the beginning of the World War, plaintiff, realizing that the sources of available supply were insufficienf to meet the world demand, began to give particular attention to methods of acquiring such articles as a merchant, by purchasing same outright.
