This was a suit on a promissory note, commenced by appellant against appellee, to recover the amount of the note and interest. The note was for $1,000, purporting to be signed by appellee by his mark, and payable to one W. A. Morton and indorsed to appellant, and dated September 28, 1888. The issues were, general issue, verified by appellee, and special plea of want of consideration, also verified, denying assignment of note in suit by payee.
