This case arises from a claim under the Workmen’s Compensation Act initiated by the respondent, Denzil 0. Kite (Kite), who was employed by the appellant, Polsky Motors, Inc. (Polsky), as an automobile mechanic. Kite’s amended claim for compensation alleged that on October 20, 1976:

“The employee, while in his employment, was removing the hood from an automobile, and struck his knee on the bumper of the motor vehicle causing his hip to give way while his arms were outstretched and his body in an unusual and awkward position, causing a sudden strain followed by a sudden…
