This is an action of replevin for a quan* tity of coffee, and cotton, which having been shipped from Jeremie, a port in the island bf St. Domingo, in possession bf the revolted negroes, was captured by two French privateers, and carried to St. yago de Cuba, in the island of Cuba. It was there purchased by the defendant, and brought to Philadelphia, where being discovered by the plaintiff the original owner, this suit was brought.
