The appellant, James T. King, on the 27th July, 1854, made his said application for letters-patent for certain improvements in washing machinery, and on the 21st of September of the same year the application was renewed, with amended specifications and drawings, stating in his application and the specifications accompanying the same that they were improvements upon a machine previously patented to him on the 1st day of October, 1851, (No. 8446,) and reissued on the 13th day of April, 1852, (reissue No. 215.)
