This litigation arose from an automobile accident that occurred on the evening of October 23, 1988. Susan Gail Mitchell, deceased, and James Gilboy were riding as passengers in a vehicle operated by Gail M. Jennings, defendant. The Jennings vehicle was proceeding in a westerly direction on Brooks Road when it was struck at the intersection of Brooks Road and Airways Boulevard in Memphis by a vehicle driven by defendant Jessie R.
