A multiple count indictment, filed pursuant to a True Bill by the Washoe County Grand Jury, charged John Joseph Keefe, among others, with (1) aiding and abetting in the possession of a cheating device (NRS 465.080; NRS 195.020); (2) aiding and abetting in the use of a cheating device (NRS 465.080; NRS 195.020); and, (3) conspiracy to possess and use a cheating device (NRS 465.080; NRS 199.480). Thereafter, in a pretrial petition for a writ of habeas corpus, Keefe challenged the sufficiency of the evidence to support the indictment. The district judge denied the habeas petition, but…
