The plaintiffs commenced this action in the Superior Court against the defendant, Lewis/Boyle, Inc., seeking damages in connection with a back injury that William Grant suffered in the course of his employment, while riding an “order picker” machine. 2 After a trial the jury returned a verdict for William in the amount of $165,000 on his claim alleging negligence on the part of the defendant. The jury also returned a verdict in favor of Frances, who had asserted a claim alleging loss of consortium, in the amount of $2,000.
