In 1996 S Industries, Inc. filed suit alleging, among other things, that Centra 2000, a producer of data management software, infringed its “Sentra” trademark in violation of the Lanham Act. In a comprehensive summary judgment order, District Judge George W. Lindberg ruled in favor of Centra 2000, finding that S Industries did not hold a federal registration for the “Sentra” mark for use on computer hardware or software.
