MEMORANDUM OPINION ON COMPLAINT TO DETERMINE DIS-CHARGEABILITY OF A DEBT UNDER 11 U.S.C. § 523(a)(5)

Section 523(a) of the Bankruptcy Code provides that an individual will not receive a discharge from any debt for a domestic support obligation. 11 U.S.C. § 523(a)(5). The definition of the term “domestic support obligation” was added to the Code in new subsection § 101(14A) by the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 (“BAPCPA”).
