POMEROY, Justice.

The plaintiffs appeal from a final judgment entered against them below on the grounds that the trial court erred in denying their motion for a new trial.

We deny the appeal.

During the evening of February 10, 1973, plaintiff Charles Binette, his wife and their two-year-old son Leo were proceeding south in his automobile on U.S. Route 1 in Saco, Maine. He stopped his vehicle near the center of the roadway in order to make a left-hand turn off Route 1 onto a side street.
