Article V, section 9 of the Florida Constitution vests the Supreme Court of Florida with the responsibility for determining the need for increasing or decreasing the number of judges in the state courts. Pursuant to this authority, we have considered judgeship requests submitted by the lower courts, examined data concerning case filings and dispositions, and analyzed various judicial workload indicators.
