In a negligence action to recover damages for personal injuries, etc., the defendants appeal from an order of the Supreme Court, Suffolk County (Mazzei, J.), entered July 22, 1988, which granted the plaintiffs’ motion to set aside a jury verdict pursuant to CPLR 4404 (a) and granted a new trial.

*827Ordered that the order is reversed, on the law, without costs or disbursements, the jury verdict in favor of the defendants is reinstated, and the matter is remitted to the Supreme Court, Suffolk County, for entry of an appropriate judgment.
