On the 15th of February, 1869, the firm of Charles S. Kintzing & Co., of St. Louis, Missouri, composed of Charles S. Kintzing and Malcolm S. Lindsley, was indebted to the defendants, who then composed, and still compose, the firm of L. E. Amsinck & Co., of New York, in the sum of $32,551 65. Kint-zing & Co. were also very largely indebted to many other persons, and, having stopped payment, a meeting of their creditors was held at oc.
