The Virginia Goal Company is in possession of and claims title to a tract of land in Wise county which was formerly the property of Hamilton Greear. Greear was in arrears to the State for taxes for the year 1890 upon this tract, which had been duly assessed, the tax duly levied and returned delinquent. It was advertised for sale at the December term of the County Court of Wise county, 1894, and was bought by the Commonwealth at the April term, 1895, of said court. In April, 1891, John D.
