The gift of the slaves in controversy in this case, is to Polly Woods, “ to have and to hold said negro slaves during her natural life, and that of her present husband, Drury Woods, or the survivor of them; and at the death of the said Polly and Drury Woods, the said negro slaves, with their increase, are to be returned and delivered to the right and legal heirs of Polly Woods ; It being the intention of this instrument to convey a life estate in said negroes to my daughter and son-in-law.”
