WOLLMAN, Chief Judge.

Antonio Richardson was convicted of murder and sentenced to death in Missouri state court. He appeals from the district court’s 1 denial of his petition for a writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. § 2254. We affirm.

On the night of April 4, 1991, Richardson, Reginald Clemons, Marlin Gray, and Daniel Winfrey went to the Chain of Rocks Bridge, an abandoned bridge that spans the Mississippi River between Missouri and Illinois, to smoke marijuana.
