Adjudications in the United States Bankruptcy Courts have often presented questions of how to reconcile the court’s exclusive jurisdiction responsibilities with res ju-dicata principles. The issue in this appeal involves a bankruptcy court’s application of collateral estoppel to a state court consent judgment. Appellant/debtor Howard I. Halpern contends that the bankruptcy court and the United States District Court erroneously concluded that Halpern was precluded by collateral estoppel from relit-igating the factual determinations made by the state court.
