The defendant, Michael J. Dufrene, was charged by bill of information with three counts of forgery, violations of La. R.S. 14:72(B) (counts 1-3); and one count of theft over $1,500.00, a violation of La. R.S. 14:67(B). He pled not guilty and, following a jury trial, was found guilty as charged on counts 1-3. On count 4, he was found guilty of the responsive offense of theft with a value of $750.00 or more, but less than $5,000.00.
