Prior to the institution of the proceedings, the sufficiency of which is called in question in this action, there -was an independent school district of Stock-port which included the territory of the town of Stockport (containing more than two hundred and fifty inhabitants) and contiguous territory which had been taken from the school townships of Union and Cedar in Yan Burén County, the dividing line between those two civil townships running north and south through the town of Stockport itself.
