Defendant, convicted by jury of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, MCL 750.520b(l)(a); MSA 28.788(2)(l)(a), and sentenced to three to ten years imprisonment, appeals as of right. We affirm.

Defendant raises several issues on appeal. Defendant first claims error in the trial court’s ruling that the victim was competent to testify at trial. We disagree.

The determination of the competency of a witness is a matter within the discretion of the trial court. People v Harris, 110 Mich App 636; 313 NW2d 354 (1981). Such a determination will be reversed only for an abuse of discretion. People v…
