This bill was filed by the appellees to recover certain slaves in the possession of the appellant, and to prevent their removal in derogation of the rights of the appellees.

The bill states, in substance, that on the 15th of April, 1839, one Tims, of the State of Alabama, the father of the complainant Juliet, by deed of gift conveyed the slaves in controversy to his daughter Juliet, the wife of Brewster H. Jayne, and William Love Brown, her son by a former husband, jointly, said slaves being then in the possession of said Juliet and her husband, in Simpson county in this State, where they…
