In June 1991, a jury convicted defendant, Stephen D. Goodey, of delivery of a controlled substance (10 or more segregated parts of an object containing in them any amount of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD)), in violation of section 401(a)(7)(ii) of the Illinois Controlled Substances Act (Act), and criminal drug conspiracy, in violation of section 405.1(a) of the Act (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1989, ch. 56x/2, pars. 1401(a)(7)(ii), 1405.1(a)). The trial court sentenced defendant to 7x/2 years in prison, a street-value fine of $300, and assessed a laboratory fee of $50.
