In the year 1879 the board of supervisors of Queens county passed two resolutions, by the first of which it directed the issue and sale of bonds to the amount of $60,000 for the purpose of improving a county road known as the Newtown and Flushing road ;- and by the • second it directed the issue and sale of bonds in the amount of $340,00.0 for the construction and improvement of another county road known as the Brooklyn and Jamaica road.
