This controversy grew out of an agreement* between the plaintiff and J. Willcox, one of the defendants, of which the following is a copy.

“Whereas difficulties and embarrassments exist between G. W. Denton and Jacob Willcox, arising from their business in New Orleans, under the commercial firm of Willcox Fearn, and from the obligations and endorsements of said Denton for said Willcox, as one of the firm of Willcox, Anderson Co., and which difficulties the parties have mutually agreed on terms for adjustment of, to wit: — The said Denton,…
