John Bryntesen, a welder’s helper, was killed when he fell from a scaffold while working on the construction of a high school building at Libertyville. His widow brought this action in the circuit court of Cook County against Carroll Construction Co., the general contractor, under section 9 of the Structural Work Act, also referred to as the “Scaffold Act.” (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1959, chap. 48, par. 69.)
