Defendant-appellant appeals from a judgment of conviction entered in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York following a jury trial. Appellant was convicted of maliciously destroying, by means of fire, certain buildings used in interstate commerce, 18 U.S.C. § 844(i) (1982 and Supp. Ill 1985) (Counts One through Four), unlawfully using fire to commit a felony (mail fraud) which may be prosecuted in a United States court, 18 U.S.C. § 844(h)(1) (1982) (Count Eleven), and mail fraud in connection with his scheme to defraud Transit Casualty…
