Following a jury trial in September 1996, defendant, Leroy Wilson, was convicted of first degree murder (720 ILCS 5/9—1 (West 1994)) and aggravated discharge of a firearm (720 ILCS 5/24—1.2(a)(3) (West 1994)), and received an extended-term of 80 years’ imprisonment and a concurrent term of 30 years’ imprisonment, respectively.
