On the first day of March, 1886, the Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe Railway Company received from W. H. Gate-wood, at Blum Station in Hill County, Texas, three car loads of cattle, sixty in number, to be transported to Chicago in the State of Illinois, for the consideration of $105 per car, and there delivered to Gregory, Cooley & Co. The cattle were not delivered at Chicago until the 5th day of April, 1886, and Gatewood brought this suit against the railway company on the 21st day of June, 1886, to recover damages as follows: For decrease in weight and value of cattle…
