At the regular biennial election, held June Gth, 1870, E. Wingate and E. P. Eitzgerald; and Edwin Wood and Robert Mays, were candidates for the offices of county commissioners of Wasco County. On June 14th. 1870, the board of canvassers, as provided by law, canvassed the votes polled at said election, and found that Wingate had received 314 votes; Eitzgerald, 316; Wood, 311, and Mays 303. Thereupon Fitzgerald and Wingate were declared to be elected, and certificates of election were accordingly issued by the clerk of Wasco County.
