VANDE WALLE, Justice.

Robert J. DeChandt has appealed from a district court judgment affirming a 'North Dakota Workers Compensation Bureau decision denying benefits beyond those already paid and ordering him to reimburse benefits paid since August 21, 1987. We reverse and remand for further proceedings.

While in the course of his employment as a Ward County deputy sheriff, DeChandt was injured in a helicopter crash on July 31, 1985. After an initial denial of De-Chandt’s claim and a subsequent hearing, the Bureau accepted liability and awarded benefits. When DeChandt and the Bureau proposed to…
