*129 The City of Atlanta ("the City") instituted condemnation proceedings on March 6, 2018, against certain property owned by Virginia and Walton Bryde in order to complete a bridge on Powers Ferry Road. Pursuant to the requirements of OCGA § 32-3-8, the petition and declaration of taking were personally served upon the Brydes on March 27, 2018. On May 4, 2018, the Brydes filed an answer along with a notice of appeal pursuant to OCGA § 32-3-14, seeking a jury trial as to the issue of just and adequate compensation.
