BROWN. District Judge.

A few minutes before 1 o’clock on the morning of October J1, 1899, as the steamship City of Augusta was coming in from sita and proceeding near the New York shore towards her slip at Spring street. North river, she came in collision with the Pennsylvania Railroad ferryboat Chicago, which was crossing from *992tbe Jersey side and was about entering ber slip at tbe foot of Cortlandt street. Tbe stem of tbe steamship struck tbe starboard side of tbe ferryboat a little aft of ber paddle box about one-third of her length from tbe rear end and caused ber to sink in a few minutes.…
