The defendant, Dallas Gore, was arrested and charged with the offenses of driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor and illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor in violation of sections 11— 501(a) and 11 — 502(a) of the Illinois Vehicle Code (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 95V2, pars. 11 — 501(a), 11 — 502(a)). A third charge was added for unlawful possession of cannabis in violation of section 4(d) of the Cannabis Control Act (Ill. Rev.
