The verdict in this case was not void for uncertainty. The only office of the verdict is to express, in clear and intelligible language, the result at which the jury has arrived; and when the jury in this case said in their verdict that they found the plaintiffs to be “entitled to the sum of $2,500,” it was equivalent to saying that they found the issues in favor of the plaintiffs, and assessed the damages at that sum.
