George J. Smith appeals a district court judgment that affirmed the denial of his application for social security disability insurance benefits. See 42 U.S.C. § 405(g).

An administrative law judge (ALJ) conducted a hearing on Smith’s application for benefits in 2009. The ALJ found that Smith had not engaged in substantial gainful activity since the onset of his disability in 2005, and that he was insured for disability benefits through September 30, 2008.
