Vincent and Doris Foretich filed a defamation action against the producers and broadcasters of an ABC doeudrama in which a character apparently referred to one or both of them as “abusers” of their granddaughter, Hilary A. Foretich, who had been the subject of a prolonged and highly publicized child-custody dispute.
