The single issue raised by this appeal is whether a public school teacher who inflicts exces sive corporal punishment upon a pupil is immunized from liability. The trial court’s resolution of this issue against the teacher generated this appeal.

The defendant is a music teacher at the Jared Eliot School in Clinton. The plaintiff, Kenneth Sansone, twelve years of age, was a student in the defendant’s class.
