EASTERBROOK, Circuit Judge.

Bert Reitsma, a physician living in Ontario, invented a device for draining surgical wounds. He asked Yves Menard, a solicitor at Scott & Aylen (based in Ottawa) to incorporate a firm to exploit this invention. (Scott & Aylen and several other partnerships merged into Borden Lad-ner Gervais llp after this suit began; for clarity we retain the “S&A” acronym.) Reitsma also engaged Max Wood, one of S&A’s patent agents, to obtain patents for the invention.
