Littleton bought from Spell a half lot of land, for which he agreed to pay him twenty-five bales of cotton of middling quality, each bale weighing five hundred pounds. He gave him two notes, one for five bales of cotton, falling due on the 1st day of November, 1882, which it seems was paid at maturity; the other for twenty bales to be paid in four equal annual instalments, one on the 1st of November, 18S3, and the others on the 1st of November, 1884, 1885 and 1886, respectively.
